You don’t know when something will fly toward your eyes. Wearing goggles can save your vision. Choose a pair which fit snugly and allows you to see clearly.
If you want to stain your wood piece, make sure to use a finer grit sandpaper if you want a lighter color. That is because the big scratches left by coarse paper allows more of the pigments to saturate the wood surface. Therefore, if you want the color to be lighter, make sure you’ve sanded with fine sandpaper.
Make accurate measurements for small cuts by using a drafting square. When an accurate cut to wood is needed to within a couple feet, you may struggle with measuring. Such squares are easy in use and surprisingly accurate.
