Take the door and hinges off the frame, and lightly hit a golf tee down into every screw hole. Cut the extra golf tee off and install the door again. This gives the screw a more solid base to grip into.
Add some extra spring to your grip. You might require the use of a spring clamp at times, but you may only be able to use one hand. It can very hard to open these up just using one hand. You can make it simpler. Before gluing anything, first put clamps on scraps of wood. They will be handy to grab with one hand as you need them.
