When creating crosscut guides, use a stair gauge. With a carpenter’s square these can be clamped down to match up the stair jack. After this, you will have to mark each of the notches. When you clamp them on the one tongue of the carpenter’s square it will become a good crosscut guide for your circular saw.
Whenever you plan to cut a narrow piece of wood, don’t use your fingers as a guide! Try using thin wood strips to push that piece through your saw. This keeps your fingers safe, which of course are vital for living as well as the continuation of your wood working projects.

A golf tee is all you need to fix door hinges which are loose. Take off the door, then remove the hinges. Then gently hammer the golf tee into the screw holes. Chop off the excess part of the tee, then replace the door. A golf gee thus provides the screw with something it can grab.
