Make sand blocks that you can reuse. To do this, cut six blocks of wood from scrap plywood that is 3/4″ in diameter for each sandpaper grit. Be certain they are approximately 2 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches. Apply spray adhesive to both the blocks and the cork tiles. Place one block onto the cork and make sure the cork is cut flush with a sharp knife. Put adhesive on the sandpaper sheet and then apply it to the cork blocks face down. Cut the sandpaper flush and label each block.
When creating crosscut guides, use a stair gauge. Clamp your carpenter’s square to your stair gauges while ensuring they coincide with the rise and run of your stair jack. Then you simply mark where the notches are. When you clamp them on the one tongue of the carpenter’s square it will become a good crosscut guide for your circular saw.
