In this woodworking project I show you how to make a quick and easy mallet. Making a curly maple mallet on my wood lathe and adding some visual interest with a walnut spline is fun wood turning project. Horse hide leather finishes the mallet ends and helps protect your project from marring.
This video is a bit unusual for me considering it’s over 30 minutes long, and feels like more of a woodworking class than a synoptic overview of a woodworking project build. Let me know if you liked the longer video down in the comments. It was a much more fun and natural way to have you in my wood shop. Sometimes I just want to get out in the shop and build it. And the leather ends is a cool way to finish it off and is one of my favorite woodworking tips. Pun intended. And who doesn’t need a mallet or two? It’s the perfect shop project.
